LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin sex offender pleaded guilty Friday to violating terms of his probation by moving without notice.
Christopher Wayne Tilley, 24, accepted a five-year prison sentence. He has a failure to register charge still pending.
Authorities in Vernon Parish, La., arrested Tilley after the Angelina Probation Department notified them that they had learned he was in the area. He was transferred to the Angelina County Jail on Tuesday on charges of sex offender's duty to register and a motion to adjudicate guilt on the 2010 charge.
According to Dustin Fore of the Angelina County Probation office, Tilley moved to Louisiana without notifying either Lufkin authorities or Louisiana authorities. A citizen in the area learned that Tilley was on probation and after some research, learned he was a sex offender. He called Angelina County authorities and told them he was in the area.
Tilley was convicted in 2001 of sexual assault charges against a seven-year-old boy and five-year-old girl.
Louisiana authorities arrested Tilley in 2010, on an unrelated charge. They learned he was registered as a sex offender in Hudson and had moved from there without giving notice. He received probation on the charge.
