NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman Sunday night after she allegedly hit her elderly mother.

Krystyn Elaine McKnight, 23, of Nacogdoches, is charged with injury to an elderly, a third-degree felony.

According to the sheriff's office log, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of County Road 771 in reference to a disturbance with weapons.

Sheriff Thomas Kerss said McKnight had dropped her daughter off at the victim's home, who is McKnight's mother, and borrowed the victim's vehicle to go to the store.

McKnight came back five hours later, with a man she had just met, Kerss said, and wanted to take her daughter.

Kerss said the victim, who is 69, became upset and did not want McKnight to leave. McKnight tried to leave but the victim tried to stop her. That is when McKnight attacked her mother, Kerss said.

"The grandmother tried to retrieve a pistol but the daughter managed to wrestle it away from her," Kerss said. "But the weapon was never used."

When the victim called 911, she told dispatch her daughter had left in the victim's car. Deputies were able to stop her on the way to the scene.

Deputies arrested McKnight on the injury of an elderly charge.

Kerss said the victim suffered abrasions and bruises.
