SFA says practice is a little different for Battle of the Piney Woods

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The SFA Lumberjacks are in very unfamiliar territory in the middle of a four game losing streak. The 'Jacks have not lost that many games in a row since 2008. During the annual Battle of the Piney Woods they'll look to get back in the win column.

On the other sideline will be the Sam Houston State Bearkats who head to Houston with a four-game winning streak. The Bearkats are ranked 11th in FCS football, undefeated in conference and even scored a victory over NCAA FBS New Mexico.

This is a rivalry game though and that is typically when records and stats are thrown out the window. The players say this week's practice has definitely had a different feel so far.

"Definitely more focused," said quarterback Brady Attaway. "There is probably a little pressure since we are one and four right now but we are practicing great this week and we are looking to have a good game."

The players are also excited to be in a pro stadium to give the game an exciting atmosphere.

"It's just a big game because it is in Reliant and because it is Sam," said wide receiver Graylan Crawford. "We should practice hard every day but we are playing Sam so we just come out more focused playing faster, and just ready to play in front of a huge crowd."

Kickoff is at 2 P.M. from Reliant Stadium in Houston. It is the second consecutive season the rivalry game will be played on a neutral site and the 86th meeting overall between the two teams. SFA has won the last two games and will be the designated home team Saturday.
