NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A gas line which forced authorities to evacuate Martinsville ISD has been capped, according to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said a natural gas line ruptured in the Martinsville area, but was fixed around 2:15 p.m.
Because of the strong odor of gas in the area, Martinsville ISD evacuated children and staff to the baseball field.
The gas line runs along State Highway 7 East. While that road was not closed, FM 95 south of Highway 7 was.
Constable Jason Bridges said air quality checks show there is no danger. Construction workers in the area doing guard rail repairs accidentally raptured the line, Bridges said.
