Judge delays sentencing for Lufkin man acquitted of rape

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A district judge has delayed sentencing for a Lufkin man who a jury acquitted Wednesday of sexual assault.

After the trial Wednesday, Christon Jeffries, 18, pleaded guilty to stealing the woman's coin purse, which contained her identity.

Judge Paul White heard testimony on the sentencing Thursday morning, but opted to delay sentencing until he reviewed Jeffries' records.

Prosecuting attorney Dale Summa said the records included a 100-page report on Jeffries' past in juvenile probation.

A date on that sentencing is not yet set.
