Alleged Aryan Brotherhood member gets 5 years in meth bust

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An alleged member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas has pleaded guilty in connection to a meth raid on a Hudson home in March.

Thomas Earl Smith, 41, of Huntington, nicknamed "Tommy Gun," pleaded guilty to possession of certain chemicals with intent to manufacture and possession of a controlled substance. He accepted a five-year prison sentence and a one-year state jail sentence, which will be served concurrently.

Law enforcement officers arrested Smith and two women, Robin Prater Franklin, 49, of Lufkin, and Aundria Whitehead Barrett, 39, of Bronson, in March after conducting surveillance of a trailer house on the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive, which is next door to the Hudson Police Department.

Franklin is scheduled for a December 5 jury selection. Barrett is currently serving probation on the charge.
