LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice is seeking the public's help in tracking down a man wanted for violating his parole from a 99-year prison sentence.

According to an investigator with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Rene Tamez, 41, has been at-large since July, when he was arrested for a domestic disturbance in connection to a fight he had with his father-in-law. Tamez managed to bail out of the Angelina County Jail before TDCJ could put a hold on him.

The assault charge is a violation of his parole, according to the investigator.

Tamez was sentenced to 99 years in prison in 1997 on a charge of possession of controlled substance. He paroled out of prison in 2007.

The investigator said Tamez works as a painter in the Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas. Anyone with information about him should call TDCJ Crime Stoppers at 800-832-8477.

Tamez is a Hispanic man and stands 5-foot 6-inches and weighs 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
