NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches County constable deputy arrested a Liberty man Wednesday night after reporting he was driving with a large amount of crack cocaine on U.S. 59.

According to Constable Pct. 4 Jason Bridges, Deputy Constable Rusty Allen stopped a vehicle just before midnight because of a seatbelt violation. Bridges said the driver, Preston Lee Walker, 36, was very nervous and Allen could smell drugs in the vehicle.

Allen used probable cause to search the vehicle and reported finding 128 grams of crack cocaine in the dashboard.

Allen arrested Walker on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony.

Bridges said the cocaine carries a street value of about $3,500.
