NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police are investigating a Thursday night convenience store robbery.
According to the police report, two black men, wearing black hoodies, ski masks and dark pants, entered the Lucky Stop, located at 1218 Douglass Rd., at 11:06 p.m., and threatened the clerk.
Both suspects pulled out a handgun and took an undetermined amount of cash from the clerk and ran from the store.
Staff and customers watched intently as the frightening images played on a store monitor while it was copied for police.
The woman working behind the counter wisely went to the floor. Her co-worker said he would have done the same thing.
"My life is worth more than the money to me, so if it's that intense, you now, we can replace the money," Reggie Sanders said.
Sanders can't identify the robbers from the video, but he feels certain they knew the store's layout and routine. They knew to lurk away from the view of outside cameras. They knew exactly how to get behind the counter. Sanders says they've probably been a customer, but not one of his regulars.
"There's always a possibility there could be a robbery, but most people are generally good people, you know, so that's what I look at," Sanders said. "I look at the good people, not the bad."
This is the second time in 14 years the Lucky Stop has been robbed. A pretty good track record. Even so, after last night's robbery, the owner is considering the installation of a glass partition. Finding deterrents so crime isn't easy.
"If they got it in their mind that's what they're gonna do, that's what they're gonna do, you know," Sanders said.
This is the second armed robbery of a Nacogdoches convenience store in two months. There's no evidence to link the two.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information. So is the Lucky Stop owner. He's putting up $500 for information that will lead to an arrest in last night's robbery.
