HENDERSON, TX (News Release) -

On Thursday, October 13, 2011, Drake Dario Blanton, 24, of Cushing and Jason Terell Hunt, 25, of Jacksonville, pleaded guilty to the Murders of Rigoberto Tovar Pina and Steven Abran Parra.  Blanton was sentenced to Life in prison for each victim, and Hunt was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his participation as a party in the murders.

On January 25, 2010, Rigoberto Pina, 29, and Steven Parra, 28, of Center were found lying on County Road 4248, in the Fairview Community, Northeast of Reklaw, in Rusk County. Both victims died from apparent gunshot wounds.  After shooting the victims, Blanton and Hunt left the scene in the victims Cadillac.  Both Blanton and Hunt were apprehended on January 30, 2010.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigators, Rusk County District Attorney's Office, The Texas Department of Public Safety, and The Texas Rangers all worked together as a team investigating the case to apprehend the suspects as quickly as possible.

Drake Blanton's latent thumbprint on a spent shell case was a development in solving the case in a short period of time.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated the preparation of the investigation was a team effort by all agencies involved.  I'm proud of our Criminal Investigators who presented the case to the District Attorney's Office with positive results. My prayers go out to both victims' families and pray they may find some type closure knowing the persons responsible for the death of their loved ones have received their punishment.
