LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Two Lufkin women were arrested overnight for smoking marijuana in the parking lot of a Halloween store.

According to police report, Lufkin Police Department responded to a call about two women smoking marijuana in their car at 12:00 a.m. at the Halloween store in the 2900 block of South John Redditt Drive.

When they arrived, officers say no one was inside of the vehicle, but they could see evidence of marijuana on the backseat. Officers waited nearby for the females to return.

Four minutes later, Ashley Nicole Simms, 21, and Larie Noelle Agpalda, 22, returned and tried to enter into the vehicle. Officers approached and questioned Agpalda, who reportedly displayed glassy eyes and slurred speech. She denied smoking anything.

Officers charged Agpalda with public intoxication. As she was booked into the Angelina County Jail, officers found a small bag of marijuana in her purse.

Simms was arrested for having outstanding warrants. Officers also found a small bag of marijuana in her purse when she was booked into jail.

Both women are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
