Supreme Court considers Stolen Valor Act's constitutionality

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court will decide whether a law that makes it a crime to lie about having received military medals is constitutional.

The Stolen Valor Act passed Congress with overwhelming support in 2006.  It was struck down by a federal appeals court in California on free speech grounds.

Previous high court rulings have limited First Amendment protection for false statements.
