Tree knocks out power for 6,000 in East Texas

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - About 6,000 residents in the areas of San Augustine, Hemphill and Center are without power after a tree fell on a major transmission line.

According to Larry Warren with Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative, the tree fell on the line just south of Center around 12:20 p.m.

Crews are on the scene now trying to restore power.
