Community saddened after public servant loses valiant battle with cancer

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Funeral services for Lynne Bridges Booker will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church of Lufkin, a private burial in the Berry Cemetery will follow.

Booker, known for her infectious smile and generous personality is being remembered by the community she came to know, love and serve.  She was involved in many local groups and organizations including The Lufkin State Supported Living Center (Lufkin State School), First Christian Church, Mosaic Center, Leadership Lufkin, Angelina Beautiful Clean, Angelina Arts Alliance, Junior League of Lufkin, and many Lufkin school activities.

According to a notice written by her daughter, Blaire, Lynne died Wednesday, October 19th after a valiant battle with cancer.

In addition to her daughter, Lynne is survived by her sister Jennifer Bridges Newman, her husband Jeb Newman and their children Stuart, Caleb and Cara as well as her brothers Christopher and Patrick Bridges; her parents-in-law John O. and Ruby Booker and in-laws Judith, John Olin III, his wife Melinda and sons John Olin IV and Erik Booker.

A visitation will be held at Caraway Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 21st.
