NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested two people Friday and has since recovered thousands in stolen property in connection to a multiple-county theft ring.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said the thefts are related to the same incident in which the Trinity County Sheriff's Office arrested a Nigton man earlier this month. Kerss said deputies arrested Juan Antonio Centeno, 34, and Lucia Centeno, 34, both of Nacogdoches, on Friday, and recovered several vehicles and ATVs reported stolen out of Panola, Rusk and Shelby counties.
Deputies are in the process of executing two more search warrants. At one property, deputies recovered several more vehicles and ATVs at a residence near the intersection of U.S. 59 and U.S. 259 and are about to execute a second search warrant. Kerss said no additional arrests have been made yet, but may be made later.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Ralph Montemayor in a previous interview, the theft ring involves people stealing farm equipment in one county and exchanging it with people in other counties so that they could sell it.
