Still no verdict for suspect in Baseline Killer case

PHOENIX (AP) -

Deliberations in the so-called Baseline Killer trial wrapped up again Tuesday without a verdict.

The jury will continue deliberations on Thursday.

It's unclear why they're not considering the case Wednesday.

Jurors are deciding whether Mark Goudeau is guilty of killing nine people in 2005 and 2006 as part of the Baseline Killer case.

The 47-year-old former construction worker has pleaded not guilty to 72 charges in all, which include the murder counts, kidnapping, rape and child molestation.

If jurors find Goudeau guilty of any one of the nine murders, he could face the death penalty.

Authorities named the crimes after Baseline Road in south Phoenix where a number of the earliest attacks occurred.
