LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A circus act, a jail holding pen full of questionable suspects, ‘Margaritaville', the Cowboys, a crime lab were just some of the imaginative booths displayed at Memorial Health System's annual Chili Cookoff and dress-up day on Friday.

Representatives from area media were invited to judge the chili and name the best showman.  The event began as a small way to help boost employee morale and build relationships and has grown to become one of the most favorite events for employees, if not the most favorite.  "Participation in the Chili Cookoff increases every year and the costumes get more elaborate," observed Tim Scallon, one of the contest organizers.

The first place winner for the Chili Cookoff goes to Food and Nutrition Services for their "Little Red Chili Pepper."

The second place winner was "Slap Yo Mama" chili by Human Resources.

Third place went to Case Management/Social Services for their "Peace, Love & Chili."

The employee choice honor went to Cardiac Cath Lab for their "CSI: Chili Scene Investigation."

The showmanship winner was Medical Records as the "The Ring-a-Ling Sisters Circus."

Costume contest winners were: Marci Fenner (1st), Mikaela Sullivan (2nd), Katherine Kipfer (3rd).
