KTRE unleashes Man Expo on Saturday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Cyndy Aldred stands in the man cave discussing how she's going to setup the Cards for Hope Poker tournament.

"Playing poker is a lot of fun, especially some Texas Hold 'Em in Texas," said Aldred with the Pineywoods Cattle Baron Gala Executive Committee. "It doesn't get any better than that and coming out to raise money for a cure. It's just all good fun and you can't have a Man Expo without having a good game of Poker."

The poker tournament benefiting the American Cancer Society is only one of many events that will be at the KTRE Man Expo Saturday.

"There's going to be a car crush," KTRE Account Executive Stephen Bergman said. "You can beat on a car with a hammer, you can work on your golf swing. You can show your cool car off, whatever you've got, we've got it out here at the Man Expo."

Organizers spent Friday setting up a Man Cave where a poker tournament and X-box tournament will take place Saturday.

"Regardless of what you're in to, I guarantee you we've got something out here," Bergman said.

Activities range from monster paintball, to a three on three basketball tournament. There's even a chance to adopt man's best friend.

"A lot of our dogs, we test them and we know what they're good for that they're ball trained, that means they focus on a ball and they run after it," Humane Society of Angelina County Shelter Director Lyndee Matthews said. "That makes excellent duck hunting dogs. We know some that are really fast and have good retrieving skills."

An opportunity to get a hunting buddy and have some manly fun just before gun season opens up next weekend.

Women are welcome to the Man Expo and it is family-friendly.

The Expo is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Expo Center in Lufkin.

Admission is free. Wristbands are $15 to participate in all the activities.
