State Department Warns Against Travel to Liberia

The State Department is urging Americans to avoid Liberia.

The department is warning against travel there, saying the African nation doesn't have an effective police force. It also cites delays in fully deploying a U.N. peacekeeping unit.

It says crime has gone up in Liberia since a U.N. program allowing former combatants to exchange weapons for cash began last month.
