Capitol Murder Trial of Richard Cobb Continues in Cherokee County

by Stuart Burson

The capitol murder trial of Richard Cobb continued Wednesday afternoon in the Cherokee County courthouse in Rusk.

Police say the now 19 year old Cobb, along with Bianca Adams robbed BDJ's convenience store in the fall of 2002. During the robbery, they also took two store clerks and customer Kenneth Vandever hostage. After driving to just outside of Alto, all three were shot execution style. The two clerks survived, but Vandever was killed.

The defense began calling witnesses Wednesday. One of the store clerks took the stand Wednesday afternoon and gave a step by step account of what happened on that frightful evening. The defense attorneys focused their questioning on who of the two had the gun and when the trial will continue Thursday morning at ten thirty.
