NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches man would have received a likely misdemeanor charge for stealing diapers from a business early Saturday. Instead he faces a second-degree felony after police reported he assaulted an employee.

According to the Nacogdoches Police report, Patrick Rafaele Ford, 36, was stealing diapers from CVS Pharmacy, located at 1424 North St., at 12:17 a.m. When Ford tried to leave, a store employee tried to stop him and Ford struck them in the face, according to the report.

Police located Ford after locating him in the area. He is charged with robbery.
