LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin highway workers managed to get an 18-wheeler carrying a large load out from under an overpass within 20 minutes.
The incident caused little damage to the bridge and the truck load, according to a Lufkin Police officer.
According to the officer, the driver was using a TxDOT map which showed a route for a truck of his size to travel, but he missed a turn and hit the overpass on the intersection of Loop 287 and U.S. 59 North.
Workers deflated the tires on the trailer and the driver was able to back out of the bridge.
Traffic flow was not affected much, as only one lane was blocked for about 20 minutes.
