LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police arrested two Diboll men Saturday night following an incident where the driver allegedly hit another vehicle head-on before leaving the scene.

According to the police report, an officer was making a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Frank Street at 10:43 p.m. when he saw a tan GMC truck, driven by Robert Galindo, 32, of Diboll, driving in the opposite direction at a high speed.

The officer said he then saw it run a red light at the intersection of Frank Street and First Street, swerve to miss another vehicle and cross into the oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a green Ford truck, driven by Jeff Smith, 46, of Huntington.

The officer reported Galindo immediately drove from the scene, continuing westbound on West Frank Street. Officers pursued Galindo, who lost control on Bynum Street and crashed into a ditch.

Galindo was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and accident involving injury. Police also arrested a passenger, Abel Munoz, 21, on a charge of public intoxication.

Smith suffered several small lacerations on his face from shattered glass.
