Family of Baseline Killer's victims talk of impact

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -

Family members of five murder victims of the Phoenix area's so-called Baseline Killer sobbed with emotion as they told a courtroom of the impact of their loved ones' deaths.

Those who spoke on Wednesday included a mother whose 19-year-old daughter was killed mere months after she moved to Arizona from Idaho to study law and a husband whose wife gave birth to twin sons four months before she was murdered.

The family members addressed the 12 jurors who are now considering whether to sentence 47-year-old Mark Goudeau to death or life in prison.

Those same jurors last week convicted Goudeau of nine counts of murder and 58 other crimes in the Baseline Killer case. They also found that he's eligible to get the death penalty after prosecutors argued the murder victims died in an especially cruel way.
