ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Boaters will have to look for a new launch to get on Sam Rayburn reservoir.
The new boat ramps at Cassels Boykin Park will be closed for three weeks, starting November 16th.
Low lake levels are causing wear and tear, so workers will repair cracks in the ramp slabs. The parks director says the work should improve the boating experience on Sam Rayburn.
Three of the boat ramps will also be extended into deeper water, giving boaters easier access for launching into the lake.
"It's going to be a little bit of inconvenience because there's quite a few people right now that are still using our boat ramps, but they're having a bit of trouble with them," said Angelina County Parks Director, Jason Kartye. "So, I think if they can show a little patience and bear with us, it'll be much better once we get the repairs and renovations done."
Ramps will re-open on December 6th.
