GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A tragedy fund has been set up for a four-year-old boy, killed in a hit and run.

Cesar Cruz was hit and killed Monday night on Highway 149 and Younger Road, near the Easton community in Gregg County.

The driver left the scene, reportedly in a silver or grey Chrysler with headlight or fog light damage.

Brandy Sieger looks at her son, Cesar's picture in anguish. She says she looked for Cesar well into the night.

With authorities, Brandy frantically drove up and down streets, calling out her son's name, praying for a response.

She says she left Cesar and his five siblings with their grandmother while she ran to the store.

While she was gone, her sister called and told her Cesar was missing.

Hours into the search, deputies found Cesar's body in a ditch off this highway, very close to his home.  

Brandy says her son had just started pre-k at Ned Williams, just down the road.

Brandy was nearby authorities when they found her son.

Through the night, authorities worked to collect evidence that they hope will lead them to the driver who hit Brandy's son and for whatever reason did not stop.
