Jury finds Nacogdoches man not guilty of rape

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County jury has found a man not guilty of raping a woman with whom he may have had a child.

The jury handed down the verdict around 12:30 p.m., after deliberating for less than two hours.

Travis Austin Bailey, 25, was charged with sexual assault. He is now posting bail on two pending drug charges and is released from jail on the sexual assault charge.

It appears the jury agreed with Bailey's defense that the lack of physical evidence kept them from convicting him.

He was arrested on the charge in September.
