PARIS, TX (KTRE) -

A Center man pleaded guilty this week to a May shooting death in a Paris KFC, accepting a 45-year prison sentence, according to a Paris newspaper.

The Paris News confirmed Dustin Michael Cooper, 27, pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend's grandfather.

According to a previous report, officers were called to a KFC location at 3110 Clarksville St. in regards to a man with a gun inside the restaurant.

When officers arrived, they observed several employees running from the restaurant who told them there were still two men inside, one of which was armed. As officers were taking positions outside the restaurant, a man, later identified as Cooper, came out of the front entrance and surrendered, according to police.

Officers found the other man in the store, later identified as Patrick Steven Gandy, 53, of Shelbyville, as the man who was shot to death.

Public records show Cooper once lived in the same house as Phillip Michael Cooper, 48, who is accused of bringing guns to a CPS hearing at the Shelby County Courthouse on Wednesday.
