The battle for Chief Caddo will kickoff for the 46th time this weekend when Northwestern and SFA meet to determine who takes home the 7-foot trophy. In order for the 'Jacks to bring it home it's safe to say their defense will have to continue to play at a high level. Senior linebacker Derrick Choice is a big part of the second half of the season turn around, and he wants to see the big trophy stick around for a little while longer.
"This being my senior year and all, it would feel real good to have it one more time," said Choice. "I'm used to having it here, I don't want to see it go back to Northwestern."
Over the last four weeks Choice has twenty-two tackles, a forced fumble and two sacks. His defensive coordinator David Gibbs admits that it has been nice to see the defense, in particular Choice step up over the last month.
"The last four weeks has been his best football as a Lumberjack," said Gibbs. "He has made plays in space that if he didn't make them they would be big plays against us."
The Lumberjacks and Demons are each 5-5 on the year, but records don't matter when it comes to the battle for Caddo. Senior linebacker Derrick Choice, looking for his third win over Northwestern in four years, is your 'Jack of the week.
