NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A suspected drunk driver is jailed after ramming into a utility pole, shutting down traffic along North Street for nearly an hour Thursday night.
Nacogdoches Police said it happened around 6:30 p.m. at the corner of North Street and West Parker Road. The driver, according to investigators, was traveling on North Street hit a pole before fleeing the scene.
Officers tracked the suspect to an insurance business about a block south of the accident scene.
Fresh vehicle fluid tracks led them to a gray Saturn Ion parked at the corner of Zeno Street and North Street, according to Nacogdoches Police.
Police arrested the driver, Leonard Davison of Nacogdoches, after they said he failed a field sobriety test.
Davision was taken to the Nacogdoches County Jail charged with DWI and duty on striking a fixture.
Traffic in both directions were diverted off North Street for about an hour while Oncor crews removed the utility pole from the roadway. All lanes were reopened within an hour.
No injuries were reported.
