ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - Just more than a month after holding a meeting to tell council members he was not going to resign, Zavalla Mayor Greg Fletcher turned in a letter of resignation Tuesday morning at Zavalla City Hall.
Fletcher confirmed his resignation is effective immediately, but would not explain why he had reached the decision.
"Well, there's reasons but I better not go into them right now," Fletcher said.
Fletcher said an issue concerning tires he purchased under a city account had been cleared.
"I bought the tires through the city and paid taxes for them and there was no city funds used on that," he said.
Mayor Pro-Tem Carlos Guzman will act as mayor until the council discusses the next move at its next meeting on December 12.
