A Trinity man pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing copper wire from the old Abitibi plant last year.

Gary Luther Spradlin Jr., 39, accepted a 12-month sentence in state jail on the charge of copper theft.

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested Spradlin in June 2010 after they connected him to stealing thousands of dollars in wire at the plant. Deputies confiscated his pickup truck at the scene and reviewed surveillance photos to confirm Spradlin as a suspect.

Deputies later arrested James Calvin Roy, 45, of Lufkin, in the same case.
