Howard Dean says the race is closer than the polls suggest on the eve of New Hampshire's primary.
The Democratic presidential contender says he's closing very fast on the man most polls say is the front-runner, John Kerry.
Dean says he intends to win the primary, and called the race "very close." He says he's not sure if it's a "dead heat."
Meantime, Dean is suggesting that rival camps are taking part in dirty campaigning.
He wouldn't be more specific, but his spokesman says Dean supporters are getting phone calls criticizing him for claiming to be a Christian when his wife and kids are Jewish.
He also says there are faxes and e-mails out there that are designed to look like they're from the Dean campaign, but that distort his record.
