Ashcroft Says U.S. Was Right to Invade

Attorney General John Ashcroft says the U.S. was justified in invading Iraq, even if no weapons of mass destruction are ever found there.

Ashcroft made the comments while in Austria, working with officials there on terrorism and security issues.

The U.S. justice chief tells reporters that Saddam Hussein used "evil chemistry" and "evil biology" in the past, and so was a threat to the U.S. and the world.

The remarks come a day after former chief U.S. weapons inspector David Kay said he doesn't think there are any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Kay says the U.S. intelligence community should explain why no one has found any evidence of such weapons so far.
