LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Bringing an unwrapped toy granted many East Texans admission into the First United Methodist Church's 3 hour Zumbathon on Saturday.
The Lufkin church partnered with the T.U.R.N. Program at Lufkin Middle School to raise toy donations for children this Christmas. To attend the Zumbathon, all you needed was an unwrapped toy, valued at 10 dollars or more. Most attendees brought more gifts to spread the cheer this holiday season.
"I think once we deliver the toys to the kids that we're going to be able to give to them, that's when it's really going to sink in. I'm super excited to do this for our community and just to dance in general. It's a dream come true," said First United Methodist Church Zumba Instructor, Rudy Flores.
If you missed the Zumbathon, you can still donate. The church will be accepting donations from 8 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, at their main office. The toys will be distributed the week before Christmas.
