'Jeopardy!' Host Escapes Injury in Car Crash in California

The host of "Jeopardy!" has managed to escape injury after crashing his pickup truck in California.

Authorities say Alex Trebek apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle sideswiped a string of mailboxes, sailed over an embankment, and was airborne for about 40 feet before it landed in a ditch.

A California Highway Patrol officer says Trebek, who's 63, was driving alone on a rural road in the central part of the state last night. Trebek owns a horse farm about ten miles southeast of Templeton.

He's been the host of "Jeopardy!" since 1984. He also hosts the National Geographic Bee.
