Security will be Tight for the Super Bowl, Regardless of the Stadium Roof

Police and NFL officials in charge of Super Bowl security say it won't matter whether the roof is open or closed at Reliant Stadium for Sunday's game.

NFL security director Milt Ahlerich say the roof's position won't change the security measures that are planned. But he says it'll be a game-operation decision.

Reliant is the first Super Bowl stadium with a retractable roof.

The NFL would like to keep it open for Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, but will make the decision based on the weather. There's a 20 percent chance of rain.

Ahlerich says the third Super Bowl since the Nine-Eleven terrorist attacks will be as secure as the last two.
