Two New Streets Dedicated to Two Longtime Townsmen

Two street dedications took place today in Lufkin, both named after long time service members to the community. One street is named after former City Manager Harvey Westerholm who served in that post for 21 years. The other street is named after former City Councilman Don Boyd who served almost 30 years. Although both men have passed away, family members say the street dedications will make sure that their memory lives on.

"Being Harvey's daughter, I love him very much, but it was very nice to know that other people thought enough of him to put his name on a street sign and name the street after him. So there's always a little remembrance of Harvey and what he has done for the city," said Shannon Shadday, daughter of Harvey Westerholm.

Both streets are located behind the fresh market Brookshire Brothers on Chestnut.
