Tenaha Tigers advance to state championship game on Thursday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Tenaha Tigers advanced to the conference 1A division II state championship game with their victory 63-28 victory over Burton Friday night. The Tigers now move on to face the Munday Moguls Thursday at 4 PM at Cowboys Stadium.

Quarterback Reginald Davis scored 6 touchdowns on the ground for Tenaha, 4 in just the first quarter, and threw for 2 more as the Tigers advance to their first state championship since 1998.

Coach Terry Ward and the Tigers will look to complete their perfect season on a short weeks rest, but it will be no easy task as Munday defeated Wellington in the other semifinal match up 62-22.

For fans looking to travel to Arlington this Thursday Tenaha ISD will have two options. Fans may ride a one of two charter buses through Chuck's Travel for $25 per person or ride along on a yellow school bus provided by Tenaha ISD for $10 per person. Tickets into the game will be $15 at the gate.

The charter buses will leave at 9:15 AM while the school bus will leave at 9:00 AM.
