CENTER, TX (KTRE) - Center Police have arrested a man and are looking for another in connection to a two-year-old theft case.

According to Detective Stephen Stroud, officers began investigating the theft on June 14, 2009, after $9,000 in cash, a Ruger Red Hawk 44 mag pistol and a Rumanian AK-47 were reported stolen from a residence on the 200 block of James Street.

Stroud re-opened the case in October 2011 and identified Larry Jones, 48, and Donald Wayne Jones, 45, both of Center, as suspects.

Stroud said the suspects had traded the guns for drugs. Police arrested Larry Jones on Friday, on a charge of theft of a firearm. Donald Jones is still at large, Stroud said.

Police have recovered the pistol but have not been able to find the AK-47.

Anyone with information on the location of Donald Jones or the AK-47 should contact Center Crime Stoppers at 936-598-SAFE or send a tip at
