LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Northbound traffic is being detoured on Loop 287, at the intersection of Denman Avenue, following a Thursday morning accident. Lufkin Police say the northbound lanes will be shut down until at least 2 p.m.
It appears a Ford pickup work truck ended up hitting a concrete median. A hazmat crew is on the way to the scene to clean up a fuel spill.
Traffic is being diverted to the feeder road.
Sgt. Rodney Squyres said traffic is likely to be diverted all day as the ruptured fuel tank has left a big mess for hazmat to clean up.
Nobody was injured in the accident, Squyres said.
As of 10 a.m., traffic was backed up to the Chestnut Drive intersection.
The truck was carrying a large piece of equipment, which was tossed over the guardrail onto the grassy hillside of the overpass during the crash. That will require shutting down the northbound feeder road later today.
