LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Hudson woman on probation after leaving her six-month-old child alone in a residence while she was passed out drunk in the back seat of her car is now back in jail after violating her probation.
According to Angelina County Adult Supervision Supervisor Dustin Fore, Thacker violated her probation by drinking and was taken into custody on Thursday. She will remain there until she gets an alcohol monitoring device.
According to a previous report, Hudson Police showed up to a trailer house on Doda Street in October 2010 and found Thacker passed out in the back seat of her car while her six-month-old daughter was left alone in the living room of the house.
Thacker accepted a five-year probated sentence in December 2010.
Fore said the department was able to determine she was drinking through a combination of substantiating rumors, office interviews and alcohol testing.
"Alcohol is the hardest substance for us to catch offenders using," Fore said in an email. "The window to detect alcohol with an on-site test kit is a few hours after use. The lab tests we utilize look for EtG, which is the metabolite alcohol synthesizes into, but those are only good if you test the person within the first 72 hours (and 72 hours is the outside of the time window) after use. And the lab tests are expensive."
