GROVETON, TX (KTRE) -

A Trinity County jury sentenced a Trinity man to a probation sentence in connection to a drunk-driving death last December.

According to prosecutor Benny Shiro, the jury issued the verdict and sentence earlier this week. Frank Edward McFarland, 32, will begin the sentence by serving 120 days in county jail.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Gregory Wayne Grider, 42, was driving on S.H. 19 when he was hit by a 2002 Ford truck, driven by McFarland. McFarland was driving north, about .2 miles north of State Highway 94. The report does not state which way Grider was traveling.

Grider was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:25 p.m. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
