JASPER, TX (KTRE) -

A Jasper County jury has found three Galveston men guilty in the 2009 death of a Kirbyville man.

According to Nobie Hammock, the legal secretary for the district attorney's office, the jury found John Matthews, 35; Shane Matthews, 32; and David Haywood, 38; all guilty of capital murder on Friday.

Because the prosecution opted not to pursue the death penalty, all three received life without parole sentences.

The three were arrested in December of 2009 after Jessie Palamo, 29, was shot to death.

Police discovered his body at the Gateway Motel and described the scene as gruesome.

A fourth suspect, Miesha Kelly, is also charged with capital murder. Her case is pending, but she did testify for the prosecution in the case, according to radio station KJAS.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
