The Groveton Indians received a national honor tonight when Brandon Kemper was named to the 2012 East-Bay Youth All-American Bowl on Sunday January 8th.
Kemper is one of just thirty-three players in the entire country to be selected to play in the game. The bowl game surprised him Monday night with a special presentation at halftime of a Groveton basketball game.
The game will played in the Alamodome and feature team USA versus team Canada. Kemper is just one of seven Texans on the team, and he says he is proud to represent East Texas and Groveton.
"It feels really good to be representing Groveton," said Kemper. "A lot of great players have come out of Groveton like Rodney Thomas and it feels good to be one of them."
Kemper plays Quarterback for the Indians too but he will be on the defensive side of the ball for this special game. The game is the day after the US Army All-American Bowl and was developed under the same concept, but for youth football programs across the country.
Games include 7th grade, 8th grade and an under-15 group that Kemper will be playing with in January.
