Inside East Texas: “New Traffic Laws”

We all know the basic laws of our land. When it comes to some of our more obscure laws, we may not be that knowledgeable of them, but we may not really ever have to deal with them. And then, there are our traffic laws. They are laws that we deal with on a day-to-day basis. But how well do we really know them?

This edition of  Inside East Texas,  examined some of the new Texas traffic laws that are now on the books. It also looked at some of the laws that have been on the books for some time, but are less familiar.

To discuss these laws and to help us gain a better understanding of them is state trooper Greg Sanches, education officer for the Texas Department Of Public Safety. Trooper Sanches has been with the Dps for 21 years, and has been in public education for 14 of those years.

Trooper Sanches is an outspoken advocate for the state's seatbelt and child safety seat laws, which were discussed on the February 15, 2004 broadcast  Inside East Texas.
