LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people in a meth bust in the city limits of Lufkin Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Allen Hill said the narcotics team moved quicker with this investigation, as children were living in the house, located on Pershing Avenue, while meth was being cooked.
"Trying to cut the supply, you know, of methamphetamine and other drugs hitting the streets. Like I said, normally we would have sat on this a little more, but we were trying to get the kids out the picture," said Hill.
Hill said they executed the search warrant around 9 a.m. and arrested Laura E. Dixon, 34, of Lufkin, and Benjamin Scott McCoy, 23, of Hemphill.
Hill said no meth lab was found, but they did uncover some finished meth.
"They've been buying and trading dope out of the house for a while," Hill said.
Child Protective Services arrived on the scene and took custody of a child, Hill said.
Hill said they will be charged with possession of a controlled substance and state charges of child endangerment and federal charges are pending.
