NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Members watched as their new church, now under construction, received a steeple Wednesday afternoon.

It's a significant milestone for the ministry of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church of Nacogdoches.

A 3,000 pound steeple was carefully lowered onto the new church facility located on Northeast Stallings Drive.

Local architect Laura Culpepper designed the church. Construction is being overseen by local contractor Alvin Stanaland.

Pastor Randy Booth is hopeful the congregation will have its first service in the church by late spring.
