Francesca Washington joined the East Texas News Team in November 2011 as a video journalist. Francesca is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast News and a minor in English. During her time at UTA Francesca reported, produced, and anchored the weekly university newscast, UTA News. She also hosted a show for the school radio station, "The After Hours."
During her college career Francesca served as an intern at CBS 11 News where she shadowed reporters, producers and photographers to gain experience and knowledge on how to be successful in the field of broadcast journalism. She also interned in the CBS 11 sports department. She had the opportunity to interview athletes throughout the DFW area.
Francesca is a proud Dallas native and loves spending time with her family and is happy to be so close to home in Lufkin. She is the daughter of Frankie and Barbara Washington. She has two younger siblings Frankie and Barri.
Francesca is passionate about journalism because it gives her the opportunity to meet new people daily and tell stories that may not be heard otherwise.
Francesca loves watching and playing sports. Her favorite team is the New England Patriots. Her other hobbies include singing, dancing, theater, reading watching movies and hanging out with friends and family.
