LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Police say it started out with a concerned friend taking Heather Zeller, 28, to a Lufkin hospital emergency room because "she had been drinking a lot" and the friend was concerned for her safety.
Apparently, Zeller wanted nothing to do with it. According to a police report, the friend and Zeller left Diboll headed for Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. The friend said when the emergency room nurse called them to the back, Zeller walked out of the ER.
The friend flagged down a LPD officer and the officer managed to find Zeller in the 200 block of N. Bynum Street. The officer said Zeller smelled of a strong alcoholic odor, that her speech was slurred, she was unsteady on her feet and could not answer questions the officer asked her.
Zeller was arrested for Public Intoxication and for a Lufkin Municipal Court warrant for Failure to Control Speed. She was taken to the Angelina County Jail.
